Saving Changes to the Target District

Once you have selected the map features to be added to the target district, you can save the changes. If you are creating a new district and there will be more than the maximum number of districts for the plan, Maptitude Online Redistricting will check to make sure that you want to create another district.

To Save Changes to the Target District

  1. Click  to save the changes to the target district.

  2. If you are creating a new district, Maptitude Online Redistricting displays the New District Settings dialog box.

  3. Type the district ID in the District ID edit box. The ID can contain up to 12 alphanumeric characters.

  4. Type the number of members in the district in the Number of Members edit box.

  5. If appropriate, type a long descriptive name of up to 40 characters in the Long Name edit box. A long name is typically used for VTDs or precincts.

  6. Click OK.

Maptitude Online Redistricting updates the existing district or creates the new district by adding the selected map features to the target district. If any of these map features had previously been assigned to another district, they are reassigned. Maptitude Online Redistricting prohibits you from assigning the same feature to two districts. The information in the Districts in Plan window is updated, and the district layer displays the updated district assignments.

After a district is created, you can also change the District ID and other settings for the target district; for more information, see "Changing Settings for the Target District."
